Fire Talk

New Program Ignites Hope for Indigenous Youth Mental Health

Approximately half of the national proceeds from the Anglican Foundation of Canada’s 2024 Say Yes! to Kids campaign are helping to launch Fire Talk, a new Indigenous youth mental health initiative created through a partnership between Alongside Hope, Indigenous Ministries of the Anglican Church of Canada, and the Diocese of Brandon.

Thanks to a $10,000 grant from AFC, and support from other partners, Fire Talk will combine online learning, traditional teachings, and in-person community-building to provide culturally grounded mental health support for First Nations youth.

“It’s incredibly rewarding to see Say Yes! to Kids supporting this kind of transformative work,” says Dr. Scott Brubacher, Executive Director of AFC. “With this grant, the national total for Indigenous youth initiatives funded by Say Yes! to Kids now stands at $50,000—and we’re just getting started.”
